TINTLY

Color stands as a primary factor driving shoppers' decisions, yet many struggle to reflect their personality into their purchases, and often feel overwhelmed by the process not knowing where to begin. However, to engage on this customer pain, Tintly works to build individualized and unique color profiles to help simplify this overall online shopping experience.

By harnessing familiar elements like a user's closet, iPhone camera roll, or personal physical features like hair or eye-color, Tintly has a built-in A.I software that extracts colors from them to match paint or fabric directly, with specific Pantone or hex codes as necessary.

What’s trending? Why is this important?

Initially within researching for this project, I focused on the trend on maximalism in regards to interior design, and then came across the trend of the ‘personalized e-commerce experience’. However, after further analysis, I realized how color plays such a role in both. Thus, I decided to hone in on color analysis, and how it affects users within their varying shoppping experiences.

TREND MARKET SIZE / Market statistics

I analyzed the total market size of each trend to project the potential opportunities for new product development. All three trends show steady growth, however personalized e-commerce is faster growing than the other two, suggesting my product focus on a UI/UX or web platform.

development and storyboarding

data driven decisions

To test the initial prototype, I asked 20 different individuals to vote on the homepage that best fit their needs when it came to their specific online shopping experiences. The most popular options were the pages titled ‘What Are You on The Hunt For’ and ‘Recommended for You’. Thus, I made sure to incorporate features from both within my final design.

reflection

Reflecting on Tintly, I think I have definitley worked on my overall skills as a UI/UX designer. I was able to take an abstract concept, “How do you choose color?” and create an elaborate platform that targets a niche audience in regards to the shopping experience.

To further this project, I would want to develop the Web Plug In even more, so that potentially the user could edit or develop their color profiles while on the plug-in. I think this kind of user experience has lots of potential, and color-analysis is a rising trend that is on the rise.
